Richmond is truly a hub for the creative community in VA, and you can’t mention the area without the rising upcomer, Rae DoubleR. His latest project, RaeBandz 2 is worth the listen!
The project is one of the most complete and cohesive bodies of work that I’ve personally listened to from VA in the tail end of 2016. Rae takes time crafting his sound and tracks, and this shows. Much of the project is done in-house at DoubleR Studios and at a high caliber, and only a single feature, which further adds to the stand-alone aspect of the tape. This serves as a true introduction to RaeBandz, as in every track he gives his fans more insight in to who he is, his story, and what made him the artist he is today.
The strongest aspect of this project is the unique sound Rae brings with his voice, varying production, and songwriting ability. Some of the standout tracks like Heavy, Chapters, Surprise, and Lost serve as masterfully crafted insight into Rae’s troubled past and relationships, whilst riding diverse bass heavy and spacey production.
There is something undeniably authentic to Rae and this project. An artist who one can tell uses their music as an outlet for his thoughts, his trials & tribulations, and personality is an artist who gains fans and recognition. Authenticity goes in hand with relatability, and RaeBandz gives us all this throughout the project, leaving the listener replaying it all once again.
